DelDOT Recognizes National Crash Responder Safety Week, Please Slow Down and Move Over

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) joins in the observance of National Crash Responder Safety Week to increase road user awareness for all crash responders. Governor Matt Meyer has also issued a proclamation recognizing the observance and asking the public to do their part to protect crash responders.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) began commemorating Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW) in 2016. This year’s national theme is “Slow Down, Move Over. Lives are on the Line!” serving as a vital reminder to all motorists of the hazards faced by law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical services (EMS), transportation workers, tow truck operators, and public works personnel who put their lives on the line every day to clear traffic incidents.

“There were more than 27,000 crashes on Delaware roads in 2025, and we need everyone to slow down, move over, and be alert when approaching crashes on our roads to protect the people who are working these incidents,” said Secretary of Transportation Shanté Hastings.
